In the tri-county area of Brooke and Hancock, WV and Jefferson County, OH there are over 15,000 individuals diagnosed with some form of intellectual or developmental disability.   People with disabilities are the nation’s largest minority group that anyone can join at any time; whether it be at birth, an accident, or by the natural aging process.  Unfortunately, there is no safe place for these individuals to engage in structured or impromptu recreational activity.  We saw this as an opportunity to serve our community in a meaningful way. 

In a public private partnership with the Brooke County Board of Education, we sought to remove the barriers to safe, inclusive, engaging, and accessible recreation for all ages and abilities.
